We're excited to be supporting Billy Meaclem with the best rubber there is, Maxxis Tyres. Known for his fun, fluid style of riding, Billy has conquered gold at the CWX speed & style in both 2019 & 2021 with a big line-up for competing in the season ahead. We caught up with Billy before he heads away to chase more podiums this season.

How did you get started out riding? 

I started racing BMX when I was six and have been riding bikes ever since.

What is your favourite part about biking?

The freedom that comes with it. There’s No rules and no correct or wrong way of riding a bike it’s totally up to you.

Favourite trails/tracks/rides?

Favourite place to ride at is The Vale dirt jumps in my home town, I’ve ridden there for 10+ years and still get excited every time I turn up there.  

Your biggest cycling achievement(s) so far?

Winning the Rotorua Crankworx speed & style in 2019 and 2021. 

What is your goal for the season ahead?

Have fun and ride new places!

When you're not biking, you are...

If I’m not riding my bike I’m usually skating or trail building.

Season plans ahead for 2022/23:

I am heading away to Canada to start my international season off in Whistler for Crankworx followed by the Back Woods invitational on the Sunshine Coast. I can’t wait to get back over there, it's been two years since I was last there due to covid restrictions. After a few more competitions around the states, I will then be doing the Cairns and Rotorua CWX events to finish out the season.
